British Embassy Project

Curated by: Grains & Grams
Year: 2020

In May 2020, Grains & Grams sourced wood from the former British Ambassador's residence in Bangkok, sold in 2017, to mark the end of an era. The pieces came from a Rain Tree in the garden — likely planted by a British Consulate settler back in 1922 — its wide, twisted grain shaped by a century spanning shade over the property. The wood now lives on as functional art at the new Ambassador's Residence at Four Seasons Chao Phraya River, and as keepsakes for guests who pass through it.
